Methodology
Gemini 4 does not exist in public. Writing about it responsibly means separating the handful of checkable facts from everything else, in a way a reader can audit in seconds.
The four confidence levels
Every factual claim on this site carries exactly one of these.
- Confirmed
- Stated by Google in an official blog post, model card or documentation page.
- Leaked
- Sourced from an artefact that escaped — a checkpoint, screenshot or staging endpoint. Not endorsed by Google.
- Rumoured
- Reported second-hand without a verifiable artefact. Treat as unconfirmed.
- Forecast
- A probability or projection — from a prediction market or from our own cadence analysis. Not a fact.
Rules we hold ourselves to
- No invented numbers. If a figure has no source, it is not published — not as an estimate, not as a range, not in a table cell.
- No unlabelled claims. A sentence with no label is our own analysis, and is written as such.
- Absence is stated. "No benchmark exists" is a finding, and it is marked Confirmed because it is checkable against Google's own sources.
- Aggregators are not upgraded. A rumour repeated by ten sites is still a rumour. Citation count does not change a label.
- Forecasts are attributed. Probabilities name their market or their author, including when the author is us.
- Corrections are dated. When a claim is falsified it is changed on the page and recorded in the update log, not quietly deleted.
Primary sources we treat as authoritative
Only these can move a claim to Confirmed. Everything else, however well-written, is downstream reporting.
